ROAD CLOSURE NEWS AND DETOUR INFORMATION

A road closure on Big Basin Way (Hwy 236) will affect how you get to and from Camp Hammer this summer. The road closure takes effect, Monday, June 22, 2009. The road will be closed for about 3 - 5 weeks.

With this detour route that we are directing you, you should allow for an extra 20 minutes to get to and from camp. I am attaching two links for you to check out. The first link shows the article in the Santa Cruz Sentinel. The second link is for you to check the updated road closures. The road may not be closed all of our summer camp season, so please make sure to periodically check this website. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you!

FROM SAN JOSE:

Do not use a MapQuest or Yahoo Maps. It will lead you to the wrong location!
Hwy 17 through Scotts Valley is the best route.
Take I-880 (Highway 17) South to Mt. Hermon Road.
Follow Mt. Hermon Road until it ends at Graham Hill Road
Turn right onto Graham Hill Road. Stay on this and it will turn into Felton Empire Road.
Turn right onto Empire Grade Road
Turn right onto Jamison Creek Road
Turn left onto Hwy 236 and Camp Hammer will be on your left. (Camp property is about 3.5 miles past the Boulder Creek Country Club and Golf Course.)

FROM MONTEREY / SANTA CRUZ:

Do not use a MapQuest or Yahoo Maps. It will lead you to the wrong location!
Take Highway 1 North to Highway 17
Take Highway 17 North to Mt. Hermon Road.
Exit Mt. Hermon Road and follow it until it ends at Graham Hill Road
Turn right onto Graham Hill Road. Stay on this and it will turn into Felton Empire Road.
Turn right onto Empire Grade Road
Turn right onto Jamison Creek Road

From San Jose:

Take I-880 (Hwy 17) South to Mt. Hermon Road.
Follow Mt. Hermon Road until it ends at Graham Hill Road, then turn right.
Drive 3/4 mile and turn right on Hwy 9.
Follow Hwy 9 into downtown Boulder Creek, then turn left on Hwy 236 (Big Basin Way).
Follow Hwy 236 for 7.7 miles and Camp Hammer will be on your left.

From Santa Cruz or Watsonville:

Take Hwy 1 to Hwy 17.
Take Hwy 17 North to Mt. Hermon Road.
Follow Mt. Hermon Road until it ends at Graham Hill Road, then turn right.
Drive 3/4 mile and turn right on Hwy 9.
Follow Hwy 9 into downtown Boulder Creek, then turn left on Hwy 236 (Big Basin Way).
Follow Hwy 236 for 7.7 miles and Camp Hammer will be on your left.
