The Cedar Deck is finished and looks amazing!  It is so incredible to see what God is capable of doing through some dedicated men and hard work!  Thank you to TLC Men’s Ministry!  We are now in the process of putting in the new bridge from the Fire Circle to the Horserails area!  It will be another incredible addition to our facilities here at Camp Hammer.

Summer is quickly approaching and Camps are filling up!  Don’t miss out on an incredible week (or two) of Camp this summer!  It is going to be the best summer Camp Hammer has ever seen!  We’ve got all kinds of great new stuff, and we are confident you will love it as much as we do!

Just this week we have had two new employees come on board!  Will Witt (Noobie), and Chelsea Fenwick (Nitro) are officially here, and working on this years Apostle program.  It is going to be an amazing year with these two additions!

Camp Hammer will be at Twin Lakes Church in Aptos’, 3rd Annual Mock Rock this evening (Friday April 16th).  We will be giving some information on our High School programs, judging the competition, and raffling off some incredible stuff (Sweatshirt, Sweatpants, Stainless Steal Water Bottle, new Sunglassess, Ipod Shuffle!)!  Don’t miss out.  Come out to the church, bring a dollar for the raffle, and enjoy the show!

Camps are filling up fast, so don’t hesitate to register!  We are making some big changes to Camp for this upcoming summer, and they are things you won’t want to miss!

If you haven’t had a chance to check out any of the “Love Stories” on the home page, take some time and read them over!  It is amazing to hear the different experiences people have had while at Camp Hammer.  And if you are interested, write your own!  We would love to know why you love Camp Hammer!

The Apostle (Cedar) Deck is in the works.  We are still raising money for it, but we have started the initial work to make the project happen!  It is going to be amazing, seriously amazing!  MC (Dennis) and Auger (Josh), as well as the Twin Lakes Church Men’s Ministry are working so hard to make this an incredible blessing to Camp.  It is a much needed improvement, and will benefit all of our weekend groups as well as our Apostle Campers from this summer on.  It is a really exciting project!

Registration has been open for several months, and Camps are filling up like crazy.  It is always exciting around this time of year to see new and familiar names on our registration list!  As the numbers get higher, it reminds us that summer is just around the corner, and we are more excited than ever!  Our Ride and Ropes Course inspection is happening this week which is just one more indicator that Summer 2010 is quickly approaching.

We are also in the process of re-stocking the Camp Store with fan favorite merchandise as well as some great new products.  This summer we will be introducing a new stainless steel water bottle in 6 different colors, authentic Camp Hammer sunglasses, some new t-shirts, and a new style of sweatshirt!  We are also looking into bringing back Camp Hammer trucker hats!  They won’t be camo this time around, but they will be even more awesome!  And of course we will have the famous Camp Hammer sweatpants!

Ok, so Camp is preparing tirelessly for Summer 2010.  What does that mean for you?  REGISTER TODAY.  Don’t miss out on an incredible opportunity to hang with old and new friends, ride the rides, laugh at the cab, go nuts during night games, and find out what the crazy new camp names are.  From Junior Camp to Apostle, you don’t want to miss camp this summer!

]]> http://www.camphammer.com/blog/2010/01/happy-new-year/feed/ 2 19 Days and Counting http://www.camphammer.com/blog/2009/06/19-days-and-counting/ http://www.camphammer.com/blog/2009/06/19-days-and-counting/#comments Tue, 02 Jun 2009 15:59:49 +0000 abradford http://www.camphammer.com/blog/?p=18 It is officially JUNE!  Which to many of you means school is out, summer is beginning!  For your friends at Camp Hammer it means, CAMP IS STARTING!  We are in the final weeks of preparing Camp, and getting ready to hang out with all sorts of incredible young people this summer.  In the recent weeks we have built a Castle, a new rec shed, re-vamped the BMX course, FILLED the pond, opened the pool, and so much more.  Summer is upon us, and we are realizing why we love Camp Hammer so much.  It is truly incredible how things change when summer is near.  The weather obviously changes, but with that so do all sorts of other things.  For instance, when the weather changes, the sun hits the plant life differently, and creates an array of incredible new scents.  This is my favorite indicator that summer is near.  Walking through Camp and smelling the unbelievably fresh air of the Redwoods.  If you have spent time at Camp in the summer you know exactly what I am talking about.  Soon, the Snack Shack will be stocked, the Craft Shack will be open, the feild will be played on, the pond will be “funoed” in, the swings will be swung on, the dining hall will be eaten in, DK will be filled with music, and the forest surrounding Camp Hammer will be filled with laughter of children learning about their creator.  It is summer.  Can’t wait to see you!

I hope this post finds you well.  Summer is right around the corner, and we are checking in to make sure you are up to date on all the incredible things going on at Camp this summer.  Here are a few of the highlights to look for in 2009.

Invisible Children

Camp Hammer is partnering with an incredible organization called Invisible Children this summer.  I.C. is a non-profit based out of San Diego that is helping raise awareness of all of the injustice taking place in Uganda.  They will be coming to Camp on monday of every week all summer to share about their organization and talk about how we can all be involved in helping the children of Uganda be free from fear.  It is truly an amazing organization that has some great things to share.  Don’t miss them this summer!  You can also learn more at invisiblechildren.com!

These are just a couple highlights among many.  Camp Hammer will have all of the crazy fun team-comps, night games and free time activites that you can think of, as well as incredible speakers and music, food, and relationships!  2009 is going to be an incredible summer! 2701′s Mock Rawk (Hosted by Camp Hammer) was incredible!  So much energy, so many great acts, so much FUN.  It gets us really excited for summer!  The students really pulled out the stops and their acts showed it!  The event grew substantially since last year!  Almost 2 to 3 times more people showed up to watch the madness this year.  We raffled off some really great prizes too!  Four people walked away with a new Camp Hammer sweatshirt, and one lucky person won a FREE week to Camp!  It was a night for the history books.

March 28th Work Day

Also, on March 28th, several men from all over Santa Cruz County partnered with Camp Hammer and helped with some really incredible projects.  From bridges to retaining walls, people were working hard to improve Camp for all you campers that will be there this summer.  It is an incredible thing what can happen when people get together and show their passion for Camp.

Build His Kingdom

And their are still plenty of opportunities to help if you want to get involved.  During the week of May 11th – May 16th, we are having more work days, and we will be working on several different projects including building the set for this years theme, as well as the finishing touches on some of the projects that were started this past weekend.  Thanks for all your support, and if you haven’t registered yourself, or your child for Camp this summer, don’t wait any longer!  Spots are going fast, and you don’t want to miss out on the amazing things we have planned for this summer.

If you couldn’t tell from the title of this post, Camp Hammer is hosting 2701′s (Twin Lakes High School Group) 2nd Annual Mock Rawk.  What is Mock Rawk, you may ask yourself.  Well let me tell you.  Mock Rawk is a crazy competition where groups sign up to lip sync and dance to music of their choice!  Why is Camp Hammer hosting this event you also might ask.  The answer is that anyone who knows Camp Hammer, knows that no where on earth does crazy fun competitions like us.  The event will take place on March 27th at Twin Lakes Church!  Come watch some incredible students perform some incredible acts!  Bring your friends and family, and learn what Camp Hammer is doing this summer!  It will be a great time for anyone who attends.  We hope to see you there!  Peace.
